Locations

Localised from this IGN wiki https://www.ign.com/wikis/the-witcher-3

There are many types of Locations in Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, and each is unique as the last.

Locations are often filled with danger and reward, or may offer safe haven for a traveling Witcher. Such locations include:

Notice Boards - often found around towns and cities, these boards offer bounties, quests, and general information about the area at large. Interacting with a notice board will also reveal nearby areas to show what they truly are.

Hidden Treasure - these treasure troves are usually associated with small quests that entail a short scavenger hunt, or reveal the location of key to unlock said treasure. Be warned, as these locations can be dangerous.

Merchants - Merchants are the lifeblood of any area in the kingdoms of the Witcher. Usually found at trading posts, towns, or even along the road, merchants will buy and sell a variety of goods.

Armorer's Table - Never underestimate the power of a well placed armorer's table to provide that extra bit of protection as you venture forth. You can often find these in towns and forges, and their benefits are too great to ignore.

Grindstone - Like the armorer's table, the grindstone is worthy of a quick stop whenever you happen to be passing by one. Having increased damage can make all the difference when taking your next monster quest.

Armorer - Much like the merchants, armorers too can be found in many of the towns, trading posts, and cities in The Witcher 3. Visit them to purchase better armor, and repair or craft your own pieces as well.

Smuggler's Cache - The waterways of the world are often used by crafty smugglers, who tend to hide their ill-gotten gains in secret locations for you to find. They won't mind.

Bandit Camp - the wilderness of the The Witcher 3 is home to many thugs and bandits looking to prey upon the innocent. If you're willing to head off the beaten path, it can be worth it to turn the raiding on the raiders, as their camps are often filled with plundered riches.

Blacksmith - Blacksmiths act much like Armorers, in that they will sell you many types of weaponry, armor, and more. In addition to this, you can also repair your own weapons, and craft new ones if the blacksmith is of the right adept level.

Secret Treasure - Some treasure chests are so rare that they won't appear on the map, even when exploring. These chests are often tucked away in river beds or in secret basement cellars - but are always worth exploring for their riches.

Witcher Gear - Even rarer than the multitude of treasure chests are secret location of sacred Witcher school gear, including steel and silver swords, and outfits and armor as well.

Herbalist - Herbalists are much like merchants, only they deal specifically in herbs, potions, and the like.

Alchemist - Alchemists can be found in places similar to herbalists, only they deal in potions and recipes instead of herbs.

Persons in Distress - Bandits are known for taking few prisoners, and torturing the ones they do. If you come across a bandit camp, be sure to look for any imprisoned folk - as they are often merchants who will return to their posts and reward you for your saving.

Abandoned Site - There are few areas in the regions of the Witcher 3 that have been abandoned, usually due to the incursion of monsters or bandits. Clearing such a site will surely bring trade back to the region, letting you use the area as a base camp.

Monster Nest - Many types of monsters frequently build nests that serve as spawning points for horrid creatures. By using bombs, Geralt can detonate the hives and loot the remains for valuable rewards.

Spoils of War - Deep below the waters of the Witcher 3 lie many shipwrecks and spoils of war just waiting to be looted by brave adventurers, willing to tangle with whatever lurks in the depths.

Monster Den - There are many caves located all across the world that serve as lairs for several types of monsters and ghouls. Those willing to delve into their depths may just find rewards after a long a bloody battle.

Signposts - You can find signposts all across the lands of Velen, Skellige, White Orchard and Novigrad that only mark the locations that you visit, but provide a fast travel point that allows you to travel easily across the land in rapid succession.

Boats - Along the waters edge you can often find small vacant boats that can be used to sail long distances, which is useful in the Skellige Isles.

Guarded Treasure - Sometimes the best treausre to be found is hoarded by powerful monsters who have made the location their home. These can be extremely tough fights, but should be worth it with the amount of treasure to be gained.

Places of Power There are many stones that lie across the land that will increase Geralt's power with a particular magical sign. It is often worth visiting these sacred sites, even once, for their power.
