Hidden Treasure

Localised from this IGN wiki https://www.ign.com/wikis/the-witcher-3

The Witcher 3 contains many areas full of Hidden Treasure. These areas can sometimes be located by interacting with a nearby notice board, but other times can only be discovered by careful exploration.

Hidden treasure can sometimes lead into Side Quests, or may be guarded by powerful enemies. Each site will usually contain several chests or containers, at least holding randomized rare loot including Weapons, Armor and Alchemy and Crafting Diagrams.

White Orchard Hidden Treasure

Swamp Guarded Treasure

This guarded treasure is located between the town of White Orchard and the Nilfgaardian Garrison, along the swampy road on the Eastern path. The road, and the treasure, is guarded by several Wolves and Wargs that can be tough for an early player. Try luring them near the red barrels and igniting them with Igni. The main treasure is located on the broken carriage among the wreckage.

River Guarded Treasure

This guarded treasure is located South of White Orchard along the riverbank on the same side as the town. A group of Drowners patrol this wrecked cargo boat, and can be quite tough. there is at least one explosive barrel you can use to your advantage - otherwise try and lure them in small groups. The main treasure can be found next to the wrecked boat in a large chest.

Ransacked Village Guarded Treasure

This guarded treasure isn't listed when visiting a notice board, instead you'll have to explore to find it on your own (or find a note mentioning a buried treasure site below two burned huts). the huts in question are on top of a ridge in the Ransacked Village, where below, a few Drowners have killed those trying to bury (or unearth) the chests. There are two chests here, both with randomized loot of great quality.

White Orchard Graveyard Guarded Treasure

This guarded treasure may look like it is behind the White Orchard Graveyard, when in fact it is beneath the ground in the crypt. Travel North from White Orchard across the river and enter the cemetery. There will likely be a level 7 Wraith guarding the Place of Power out front. Getting him to half health will cause him to retreat - whereupon you must follow him by blasting down the door with the Aard Sign. Enter the crypt and defeat him, then cast enough light to find the various treasure chests located within. You can also find Witcher Gear here that will unlock the Side Quest: Scavenger Hunt: Viper School Gear.

Spoils of War Guarded Treasure

The map marker may say Spoils of War, but it's really just more guarded treasure. This one in particular is just East of the Nilfgaardian Garrison, in the middle of a large part of the river. You can spot the place by looking for a broken boat still floating on the water. However below the water lurks several level 10 Drowners, and you can't use your swords in the water. Therefore you will need to have the Crossbow in order to kill them, before diving down to the other part of the broken boat for the loot.

Water Hag Guarded Treasure

This treasure is located to the West of the Nilfgaardian Garrison, at the edge of the swamp. It is also the home of the only Water Hag in White Orchard, who guards the treasure. She's level 6, and will use sludge to blind you, and try to dissapear into the water. Once defeated, you can find the treasure amid some noxious vapors that you can expel from a distance with the Igni Sign (Be careful!)

River Bridge Hidden Treasure

This hidden treasure is located just North of White Orchard, along the bridge towards the abandoned mill in the distance. As you near the  bridge you can spy a dead body and blood stains on the bridge. Diving below you can find the slain caravan with chests able to be looted by you. If you spot the corpse on the shore, you can find a key that starts the Side Quest, Treasure Hunt: Temerian Valuables.

Ridge Hidden Treasure

The hidden treasure here is located on top of a ridge near the far North end of the map, between the Mill and Cackler Bridge. Here you'll probably find a large group of wolves nearby, as well as the remains of a man and his camp. His dairy may point you in the direction of the Mill, and the Temerian Valuables quest.

Abandoned Camp Hidden Treasure

In what appears to be a follow up from the ridge hidden treasure nearby, this treasure is found in an eerily abandoned camp just Southwest of the ridge, and may be surrounded by Wolves and Wargs. The inside of the camp offers several chests and containers, and further notes about the people stationed here.

Velen Hidden Treasure

An Unfortunate Turn of Events

Go south from Devil’s Pit to an abandoned ferry. Check along the coast for a body amongst wreckage. Find the note on the body and swim out in the river to find the Hidden Treasure with your Witcher Senses.

Use Aard to break them and claim the loot.

Tough Luck

Southeast of Devil’s Pit, roughly halfway to the river, is a wrecked merchant’s cart. Slay the Fogglet that killed the cart drivers and then grab the letter and key off the corpse. Use the key to open the chest laying on the cart.

This Hidden Treasure can be found north of the Ferry Station. If you haven’t found the Ferry Station marker yet, it is on the mainland south of Oxenfurt Harbor. Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire

Hidden from the World

Go to Marauder’s Bridge, which is the bridge northeast of Lurtch, for this Hidden Treasure. Follow the road southeast to find a bandit camp on the east side. Kill all the bandits and pick up the note off a dead body. Use your Witcher Senses to find the treasure on a nearby hill.

Sunken Treasure

Costly Mistake

A Plea Ignored

Go to Condyle for this Hidden Treasure. Condyle is on the southwest side of Velen. Use the map above, if you need more help finding the exact spot. Head south onto a strip of land that juts out and looks like a boot. There will be burned down farm, guarded by a level 28 Gravehag. Slay it and inspect the nearby body for a clue to the treasure’s location. Use your Witcher Senses to find and loot it.

Don't Play With Gods

Travel to Duen Hen for the next Hidden Treasure. Duen Hen is east of Condyle, from the last treasure. Southeast from Duen Hen on the map is a small building. These are elven ruins. Set a marker and make way. When you arrive, kill all the Wraiths and grab the note and key off the dead man’s body. Walk up the strairs and slay a Noonwraith. With all the specters gone, use Aard to bust some barrels to find the Hidden Treasure.

The Dead Have No Defense

Back at the marker for Duen Hen, go directly south to the shore line. There you will find a bandit camp. Take care of the low lives and grab a note off a nearby corpse. Follow the mini map to a nearby crevice, guarded by two more bandits. Kill them and grab the treasure.

Sunken Chest

Fyke Island is the closest Fast Travel marker for this Hidden Treasure. To the south is a small island. Swim or sail there to find a corpse on the land. Grab and note and swim beneath the fallen structure to find the treasure. Your Witcher Senses will come in handy when trying to locate the chest in the dark.

Queen Zuleyka's Treasure

Go to the Coast of Wrecks for this treasure. Southwest of Hangman’s Alley is where you can find the Coast if you haven’t found it yet. Slay the lot of pirates on the shore, before grabbing the note nearby. Follow the note’s directions out in the water and use your Witcher Senses to find it inside a boat under water.

Novigrad Hidden Treasure

Coast of Wrecks

Head for the Widow’s Grotto on the west coast of Novigrad. If you haven’t found that Fast Travel point, the next closest is Lucian’s Windmill. There will be three circular islands that form an upside-down triangle close by. Swim there to be notified of the treasure. Check the chest on shore to find the note you need. After reading it, search the nearby area for a total of four chests; two are on shore and two are in the water.

Battlefield Loot

Head for the Eternal Fire Chapel on the east side of Novigrad. If you haven’t found that Fast Travel point, the next closest is Cunny of the Goose. Head south, across the swampy waters to the other side of the battle field. It is northwest of the White Eagle Fort marker. Check the body and read the note. Use your Witcher Senses to follow the blood to the chest hidden behind some barrels. Use Aard to break them and claim the loot.

Skellige Hidden Treasure

Inheritance

Go to Boxholm for this Hidden Treasure. The town is destroyed, so just search the body near a slain bear. Read the note and use your Witcher Senses to find the chest.

Family Fortune

Make your way to the Ruined Inn for this Hidden Treasure. If you haven’t found that marker yet, the next closet one is Fyresdal. The Ruined Inn is on the southeast shore from there. Go inside the inn to find a chest with the letter you need. Read it and swim out to a shipwreck. Dive below the surface to find your treasure.

Pearls of the Coast

Between Eldberg Lighthouse (north) and Arinbjorn (south) is the next Hidden Treasure. On the stretch of islands leading to the lighthouse, keep an eye out for bandits on the east coast. Defeat them at their camp and find a note describing where some treasure is. Dive into the sea and use your Witcher Senses to find the chest.

Nilfgaardian Treasure

Urialla Harbor is where you need to go for this Hidden Treasure. The harbor can be found on the northeast island of Skellige. Make your way toward the southeast coast from the harbor and fight off a siren flying over the nearby corpse. Check the body, read the note, swim and use your Witcher Senses to find the hidden loot.

Precious Haul

Fast Travel to Tor Gvalch’ca for this Hidden Treasure. This Fast Travel point is high up on the mountain, while our treasure is down below on the eastern coast. You may either walk the whole way down, trying to find a path, or take the fun way down and jump off the bridge. Be careful though! Geralt tugs to the right when falling, so jump from the left half of the bridge for a clear landing. Swim toward the marked area on the map above to find a shipwreck. Read the note and swim north to find the cheat with your Witcher Senses.

Not Only Eagles Dare

Make your way to Svorlag to find this Hidden Treasure. There is a tiny island southeast of the Svorlag bay. Swim or sail there and fight off Drowners. With the vile mermen defeated, check the corpse for the note. Swim out and find the treasure with you Witcher Senses.

Unlucky's Treasure

This Hidden Treasure is a doozy to get. Both in terms of travel to get to it and the creature that guards it. Fast Travel to the Bay of Winds. If you haven’t found that point yet, then Urialla Harbor will do. From Urialla Harbor, just head west to find the Bay of Winds. Grab a boat and set sail for the medium-sized island west/southwest of the Bay of Winds. When you arrive, head to the top of the island to find a super high level Archgriffin (We found the Archgriffin with a level 31 Geralt, and the monster was still a ???. Proceed with extreme caution). Kill the beast, who is presumably Unlucky, check the nest for the note and follow its instructions to the loot.

Hidden in the Depths

Travel to Harviken for this Hidden Treasure. Go on the southwest side of the island to find a cave entrance. Near the entrance is a corpse. Search it to find the note. Swim into the cave and fight off quite a few level 28-31 Arachas and Endragas. When they are all dead, use your Witcher Senses to find the hidden treasure.

Ironside's Treasure

This is another doozy to get to, but this time, only in means of travel. North of Harviken is a medium-sized island. You need to get to the north tip of that island. You could swim, but it would be much faster to sail. Go to the east side of the island for a boat and then set sail. When you arrive, hop out and check the dead body. Like always, read the note, swim, and use your Witcher Senses to find the Hidden Treasure.
