每个游戏厂商都希望自家的游戏在发售之初便是尽善尽美的状态,但现实中什么情况都可能发生。我们看过一些游戏“发售即死亡”的惨象——“伤了心”的开发者努力止损后便对其不管不顾了。但我们也见到一些开发团队努力打磨游戏,使其“更上一层楼”乃至“凤凰涅槃”的精彩案例。今天我们就为大家盘点9款在发售后变得越来越好的游戏。

最终幻想14

这份榜单首先要说的是一款命途多舛、颇具传奇色彩的游戏——《最终幻想14(Final Fantasy XIV)》。《最终幻想14》最早在2010年发售,结果是一团槽,而且毫无好转,导致史克威尔艾尼克斯在2年后终止了该作的运营。

游戏在2013年以2.0版本《最终幻想14:重生之境(Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn)》的形式再次发售,正如新名字所言,新版本让游戏宛如重生,原版游戏存在的性能问题、光照问题、关卡重复度问题在“重生之境”中荡然无存。随着2015年的“苍穹之禁城(Heavensward)”以及今年的“红莲之狂潮(Stormblood)”两部后续资料片的发布,《最终幻想14》已然成为当今市面上最好的MMO游戏之一,这样的佳绩和游戏发售初始的窘境形成了异常鲜明的对比。

 

星际战甲

《星际战甲(Warframe)》发售之初表现不差,但对比现在差距就很明显了。在游戏4年半的历史中,我们很难发现哪个系统或机制没有被大幅重构过。游戏的近战系统在2014年改过,运动系统在2015年改过,地图和角色等级系统在2016年改过——一切和刚发售时相比都改得面目全非了,而且其中很多部分已经达到业界顶尖的水平。《星际战甲》还通过2015年12月的“第二梦(The Second Dream)”,以及2016年11月的“内部战争(The War Within)”两次更新强化了游戏的剧情部分,它们在故事和角色的塑造方面花费了大量气力,这是游戏早前所忽视的。游戏另外还加入了许多新系统,比如2014年新增的Archwing任务以及即将到来的开放世界Plains of Eidolon。

 

暗黑破坏神3

《暗黑破坏神3(Diablo III)》于2012年5月发售,当时的玩家遇到了各种各样的问题。游戏服务器经常报错,网络连接经常中断,大部分玩家在游戏发售当天都没法爽上一把,而且这些问题持续了好几天。更不幸的是《暗黑3》最糟糕的部分尚未到来——游戏在发售不久后加入了拍卖行系统,让游戏从“打怪收集装备”变成了“花钱购买装备”,玩家可以花费现实货币以省去游戏的核心体验。1年之后,暴雪宣布他们将关闭基于游戏内货币以及现实货币的拍卖行,在2014年3月“夺魂之镰(Reaper of Souls)”发售时还顺道重做了掉落系统。游戏的更新修复了玩家对游戏核心机制的大部分不满,而在同年8月游戏开放排位赛季后,《暗黑3》的整体素质更为出众了。

Anyone who tried to play Diablo 3 the day it launched in May of 2012 will be very familiar with the issues it faced. The servers were plagued with errors and connection problems that prevented most people from playing it for a good portion of its first day, and those issues persisted for some in the following days.   Unfortunately, the worst was still yet to come for Diablo 3, as the launch of the auction house shortly after release transformed the game from a hunt for rare gear into a gold grind where you could simply pay real money to skip most of the important progression.   A little over a year later, Blizzard announced they would be shutting down both the in-game gold and real-money auction houses, and revamping loot drops as a whole alongside the Reaper of Souls expansion in March of 2014. With Destiny 2 newly out of the door with few if any major launch issues, it seems like a good time to look back on the rather disappointing state the original game started in.   The base game was light on content, lacked any sort of coherent story to its campaign, and featured a character voiced so poorly by Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage that Bungie actually had voiceover veteran Nolan North rerecord all of his lines for a later expansion.  Destiny also had a problem with loopholes and strategies the developer deemed too exploitative to allow. Loot caves were the best example of this, allowing players to reduce getting new equipment to staring at a single doorway and holding the trigger down until you got the rare item drops you wanted.  Even with a dry spell of content after The Taken King expansion, Destiny morphed into a significantly better game over its three year life. 街头霸王5

《街头霸王5(Street Fighter V)》刚发售时的状态简直可以说是“瘦得皮包骨”。游戏的多人模式完备到可以举办锦标赛了,但单人模式乏善可陈,其它各种模式也不见踪影,而且总共只有16名可操作角色。除此之外,游戏发售时的网络状况和程序稳定性都很有问题。一些玩家几乎没法游玩本作,卡普空不得不加紧修复相关问题,让玩家们至少能进入游戏……

不过自此之后,卡普空持续为游戏加入新的角色。游戏在去年6月免费更新了完全版剧情模式,新关卡和细节和版本数量也更加可观。游戏发售时缺失的内容已经被逐渐填补上了,如今的《街头霸王5》的丰富度看起来和它的战斗系统一样出众。

 

黑暗之魂

好吧,这个提名有些奇怪,不过还是请听笔者一言。主机版《黑暗之魂(Dark Souls)》很伟大,不过游戏于2012年末在PC平台上发布的“受死版(Prepare to Die Edition)”到今天都可以说是一场事故。游戏帧数锁定在30fps,但却并不稳定。更糟的是,游戏的分辨率被强制设为低得让人尴尬的1024x720,然后再拉伸为玩家显示屏的原生分辨率。游戏的画面选项也极度有限,使得玩家几乎无法在游戏内部解决问题。

这时mod作者Durante和他制作的DSfix出现在了玩家面前,在《黑暗之魂》发售后不久就带来了一个非官方补丁。DSfix允许玩家解除帧数和分辨率限制,还可以调整其它画面选项,让游戏更加流畅。如今的显卡不用DSfix也能更出色地运行《黑暗之魂》,但它在当时可以说是必需品。自2012年起,DSfix被下载超过200万次。

Okay, this is a strange one, but bear with me. By all accounts, Dark Souls on console is a great game already. But the Prepare to Die Edition released on PC in late 2012 is, even to this day, pretty much a trainwreck.   It’s capped at 30 fps, but has trouble hitting that. Worse, the resolution is forced to a low and awkward 1024x720 ratio, and then upscaled and stretched to the native resolution of your screen. The graphics options are also extremely limited, making it impossible to solve either problem in-game.  That’s where modder Durante and the now famous DSfix came in, an unofficial patch for Dark Souls released almost immediately after launch. The DSfix mod allows you to unlock the framerate and resolution, as well as adjust other graphics options to make the game run smoother.    Graphics cards nowadays can run Dark Souls better without DSfix, but it was pretty much mandatory at the time. DSfix has been downloaded from NexusMods nearly two million times since 2012, and is

消逝的光芒

Dying Light didn’t have as rocky of a start as some of the other games on this list, but it wasn’t a glowing one either. The game launched in January of 2015 to mixed reviews and some multiplayer connection issues. The month after, developer Techland tried to crackdown on cheating and unintentionally crippled the modding community at the same time.   But after that, Techland began pushing out frequent free patches and content updates for Dying Light. A hard mode was added, and shortly after that official mod tools and Steam Workshop support were implemented. At least a dozen free content updates were added as well.  This culminated in its first major expansion/definitive edition combo, renaming the base game Dying Light: The Following. It was even given to current owners of the game as a free update instead of an add-on purchase and has simply become the only version of the game. After all that, Techland announced in June of this year that 10 more free DLC updates were still on the

Elite Dangerous started with a massive, open galaxy to explore, and somehow it’s only managed to get bigger since it launched in 2014. Most updates have been major new features broken into seasons, the second of which was dubbed the Horizons expansion.  Simpler things like 4-player groups and a PvP arena mode were added for free closer to launch, along with the ability to align with NPC factions and a revamped mission system to take jobs that can affect your standing with them.   The Horizons update improved Elite more significantly, starting with the long awaited addition of planetary landings. Horizons then expanded ship customization with unique loot and crafting mechanics, followed by adding smaller fighter ships that could be deployed from larger one. Most recently, Horizons finally gave every player a customizable avatar to create and introduced multicrew ships. 《泰拉瑞亚(Terraria)》发售时表现就很好,但也只是一款略显单薄的卷轴沙盒RPG。它当时可以被称之为“2D版《我的世界(Minecraft)》”,除了几场漂亮的boss战再无其它可挖掘的要素。不过在过去的6年里,开发商Re-Logic不满足于原有的标签,持续而低调地为《泰拉瑞亚》带来了各种免费更新和额外内容。游戏内的物品数量是刚发售时的10倍,这一差距令人惊叹。游戏发售6个月后的1.1更新加入了困难模式,整个《泰拉瑞亚》的内容和boss战数量翻了一倍。2013年的1.2更新带来的内容量又在此基础上翻了一倍,而且加入了新的生态环境和boss。2015年的1.3更新为游戏加入了一个“最终boss”,新增内容量和1.2更新相当,而且未来还将发布更多内容。

At launch, Terraria was a very good but slim side-scrolling sandbox RPG. It was pretty accurately described as “2D Minecraft” at the time, and didn’t have too much else going for it beyond some neat boss fights.   But over the last six years, developer Re-Logic has constantly and quietly crammed Terraria full of free updates and extra content, without a doubt distinguishing itself from that limited label. Comparing it now to the game it was at launch is staggering, with 10 times the number of items it started with added after release.  The 1.1update just six months after it launched added hardmode, essentially doubling the amount of content and boss fights in Terraria. The 1.2 update in 2013 pretty much doubled it again, adding new biomes and bosses as well. The 1.3 update in 2015 added a more definitive “final boss” to the game, along with a comparable amount of content to 1.2, and even then more was on the way.
