Mark Wahlberg

Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg was born on June 5, 1971, in Boston, Massachusetts. Wahlberg's first stardom came from being known as Donnie Wahlberg's – member of the boy band New Kids on the Block – younger brother. Wahlberg was supposed to have been a member of the boy band, but decided to release his own music under the moniker of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch instead, earning an early hit with "Good Vibrations."

Wahlberg made his big screen debut in 1994 with the film Renaissance Man. Wahlberg soon followed it up with The Basketball Diaries and found a critical hit with 1997s Boogie Nights. Other films in Wahlberg's catalogue include Fear, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, Planet of the Apes, The Italian Job, and The Departed, a role which led to his first Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
