Born in Beirut, Lebanon on September 2, 1964, Keanu Reeves is the son of a showgirl from England, and a Chinese-Hawaiian geologist. Keanu’s name, which he shares with a Hawaiian ancestor, means “cool breeze over the mountains.”

Raised in Toronto, Canada, Reeves left for Hollywood in 1986 to begin his acting career. His first widely acclaimed role was in Tim Hunter's River's Edge.

He is best known for playing Neo in the sci-fi film trilogy The Matrix, as well as playing Ted in the teen comedy films Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

Reeve’s other notable roles include Constantine, Speed, The Devil’s Advocate, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, A Walk in the Clouds, Johnny Mnemonic, My Own Private Idaho, and Much Ado About Nothing.

He played bass guitar in the grunge band Dogstar, which he formed in 1991, and more recently in the band Becky.
